Listing Guidelines

How to create a listing that gets serious buyers to call.

Good listings sell faster. Clear photos, complete specs, and an honest description set buyer expectations and cut down on tyre-kicker calls. These guidelines apply to every vehicle and vessel posted on Automart.

1. Photos

  • Upload at least 5 photos — front, rear, both sides, and the interior or deck. More photos = more clicks. The maximum is 10 per listing.
  • Shoot in daylight, with a clean background where possible (a quiet street, the harbour, a paved lot — not a cluttered garage).
  • Photos must be of the actual vehicle or vessel being sold. Stock images, screenshots, and dealer brochure photos will be rejected.
  • Don't cover the number plate or hull registration mark in your photos — buyers expect to verify the vehicle on inspection.

2. Title and description

  • The system builds your title automatically from year, make, model, and grade. Make sure those fields are filled in correctly.
  • In the seller remarks / description, include things that aren't already in the spec fields: service history, recent work, why you're selling, anything notable about the boat's build or engine hours.
  • Be honest about condition. Mentioning small issues up front saves you arguments at viewing. Lying about condition gets the listing removed.
  • Write in English or Dhivehi (Latin script). Avoid ALL CAPS — it looks like a scam.

3. Specifications

  • Fill in every spec field that applies. Mileage, fuel, transmission, and condition are what buyers filter by — leaving them blank hides your listing from search results.
  • For boats, include build material, length, width, engine hours, and cargo capacity where applicable.
  • Price in MVR. If you're open to offers, say so in the seller remarks.

4. Pricing

  • Price your vehicle or vessel realistically — check similar listings on Automart before posting.
  • For rentals, choose daily or monthly pricing depending on your typical rental period. State any deposit, fuel, or insurance terms in the rental terms field.

5. Contact and response

  • Your verified mobile number is used as the contact for buyers. Keep it active for the duration of the listing.
  • Respond to enquiries within a day or two. Slow or absent sellers push buyers to your competitors.

6. What gets rejected

  • Listings with no photos, or with photos that aren't of the actual item.
  • Duplicate listings of the same vehicle or vessel.
  • Misleading specs (wrong year, model, mileage) or fake prices.
  • Listings for vehicles that have already been sold elsewhere.
  • Posts that include external contact links (calls to message on other platforms first).

7. What happens after you submit

Every submission goes through a quick moderator review. We'll approve most listings within a business day. If anything needs adjusting, we'll tell you why so you can resubmit. Once approved and payment is complete, your listing goes live for the duration of the package you chose.
